This chip has a crystal-clear 25MHz reference accuracy and internal PLL and dividers,
so it can output just any frequency, from <8 kHz to 150 + MHz.
In the Si5351A, the clock generator is an I2C clock controller. It uses the onboard clock precision on the
various disk PLL and clock dividers using I2C instructions. By adjusting the PLLs and delimiters, you can
create precise and arbitrary frequencies. There are three independent outputs, and each can have a
different frequency. 3Vpp outputs, either via a breadboard friendly header or, for RF operation,
an optional SMA connector.
We put this little chip on our own breakout circuit board, with a 3.3V LDO regulator so it can be powered
from 3-5VDC. We also put the offset circuit level on I2C lines, so you can safely use this chip with 3V or 5V logic.
Best of all, we even have a great tutorial and Library to get you started. Our Code is designed for use
with an Arduino microcontroller and IDE, but it is easier to transfer to your favorite platform with I2C support.
