Under light load conditions, the device can select one of the following two modes of operation via the MODE pin. One is a PFM mode that increases efficiency; the other is a forced PWM mode that avoids application problems due to low switching frequency. The switching frequency in PWM mode can be adjusted from 200kHz to 2.2MHz with an external resistor. The TPS61088 also implements a programmable soft start function and an adjustable switching peak current limit.
