The gas-sensing material used in the MQ-2 gas sensor is tin oxide (SnO2) with a low conductivity in clean air. The change in conductivity can be converted to an output signal corresponding to the gas concentration using a simple circuit. The MQ-2 gas sensor is highly sensitive to liquefied gas, propane and hydrogen, and is ideal for the detection of natural gas and other combustible vapors.
